The Saturday XI travelled to Tendring for their penultimate game of the 2019 season and batted first after winning the toss.
The Cavaliers started well, with M Vinter passing 6,000 club runs in the seventh over of the match as he and D Smith added 68 for the first wicket before Smith (23) was caught. Vinter (35) was dismissed shortly afterwards, but a third wicket partnership of 32 saw the score pass 100 before B Munir (11) was out bowled. The Cavaliers progressed to 125/3, but the wickets of T Hijazi (6), B Aslam (4) and P Johnson (0) meant the score slipped to 137/6. A seventh wicket partnership of 42 (the highest seventh wicket partnership of 2019) between K Chowdhury and N Davidson got the Cavs up to 179/6, but the wicket of Davidson (21) initiated a collapse, with S Riaz (0), A Khaliq (1) and D Young (0) all out cheaply, leaving Chowdhury (50*) undefeated as the Cavaliers posted a score of 184 all out after 42.5 overs.
The Cavaliers' fielding effort saw the opening bowlers start slowly, though S Riaz (8-1-19-0) kept the run rate down while N Davidson (13-1-60-3) claimed the first three wickets to fall as Tendring reached 53/3 after 15 overs. The introduction of B Aslam (4-0-11-1) and A Khaliq (13-2-35-3) then saw four further wickets fall while D Smith (4-0-30-0) was unlucky in his spell after replacing Aslam. With one wicket needed for the Cavaliers, the score was 144/7 after 35 overs, but none of the bowlers were able to make that final breakthrough before Tendring's last man hit the winning runs off the bowling of K Chowdhury (1.3-0-11-0); the innings ending on 185/7 after 43.3 overs.
