The Saturday XI hosted Tendring today, and the Cavs batted first after Dellar lost the toss for the first time this year.
The Cavaliers openers started well, surviving a scare in the fifth over as F Murtaza was dropped on 10 at point, with the score on 17/0. The openers maintained a run rate of around 5-per-over for the first 15 overs of the contest until Murtaza (39) was given out LBW to make the score 73/1. That first wicket prompted a couple of quick wickets as D Dellar (20) and G Duminy (1) were both out; the score reaching 76/3 after 19.1 overs. The Cavaliers then reached 89/3 before losing S Khan (10) and N Hussain (1) to make it 94/5. The score passed 100 before B Aslam (6) was caught, but quick wickets again saw the Cavaliers slip up, going from 112/6 to 112/8 as P Kannan (10) and N Davidson (9) were both dismissed. S Riaz and D Young then added 31 runs for the ninth wicket (the second-highest partnership of the innings) before Young (3) was caught with the score on 143 with eight balls remaining. It was then left to Riaz (25*) and A Khaliq (4) to see the Cavaliers up to their final score of 154 all out from 45 overs.
The econd innings saw the Cavaliers make an early breakthrough by N Davidson (6-0-33-1), with S Riaz (6-1-11-0) bowling well at the other end. The Tendring second wicket pairing then saw off spells from A Khaliq (4-0-20-0), N Hussain (7-0-28-0) and S Khan (3-0-20-0) as they amassed a partnership of 115 before B Aslam (3.2-0-25-1) bowled the other Tendring opener, J Jenno (88). With G Duminy (2-0-11-0) and P Kannan (1-0-6-0) also going wicketless, the match was over after 32.2 overs in the second inning as Tendring scored 158/2, winning by 8 wickets.
