The Saturday XI travelled to Earls Colne to play Cogeshall thirds today in the last Saturday game of the season.
The Cavs fielded first with N Davidson (13-1-37-2) and R Rasheed (13-3-30-0) opening the bowling. First change bowler S Riaz (4-0-12-1) took a wicket in his first over as the Coggeshall batsmen made starts without going onto a big score. With V Gedi (4-0-30-0) and P Kannan (3-0-20-1) also having spells, it was left to T Hijazi (3-0-30-1) to claim a late wicket as Coggeshall posted 182/5 from their 40 overs.
The Cavaliers reply saw D Dellar (3) dismissed early, but the second wicket added 27 runs together to make the score 37/1 before M Vinter (2) was bowled. A familiar Cavs collapse then saw I Ikram (0), F Murtaza (29), P Kannan (3) and V Gedi (0) all dismissed as the score slumped from 37/1 to 45/6. A further 12 runs were added for the seventh wicket before R Rasheed (4) was out and, with P Johnson (4) falling soon afterwards, the score was 65/8. The wicket of N Davidson (6) was the next to fall (77/9), but a last wicket stand of 22 between T Hijazi (11*) and S Riaz (4) saw the Cavs end on 99 all out from 24 overs, losing by 83 runs.
