The Saturday XI hosted Bardwell yesterday and, after winning the toss, elected to field first.
The decision to field saw the Cavaliers start well as Bardwell slipped to 21/3 with opening bowlers N Davidson (9-3-38-1) and R Rasheed (15-0-80-2) removing the Bardwell top order. Bardwell then recovered in spectacular fashion, adding 169 runs for the fourth wicket as S Riaz (4-0-20-0), V Gedi (5-2-14-0), D Smith (3-0-19-0) and J Walton (2-0-15-0) went wicketless. The late introduction of F Murtaza (7-1-41-3) saw him remove both of Bardwell's set batsmen though, but they ended their 45 overs on 234/6.
The Cavaliers reply saw F Murtaza (2) dismissed early on, followed by D Smith (0) to leave the score on 15/2. With Cavs captain D Dellar (30*) retiring hurt, P Kannan and I Ikram set about rebuilding the Cavaliers innings, getting the side up to 80/2 before Kannan (34) was caught. A fourth wicket partnership of 64 between Ikram and J Walton helped the Cavaliers recover, but the wicket of Ikram (45) left the score on 144/4. A further 20 runs were added for the fifth wicket, but R Rasheed (9) and JJ Elliston (0) fell in quick succession. It was then left to Walton (40*) and V Gedi (4*) to see the Cavaliers up to their final score of 177/6 from 45 overs, losing by 57 runs.
