The Saturday XI hosted Sudbury at Mill Road yesterday and batted first.
The Cavaliers started by adding 35 runs for the first wicket, but the dismissal of D Dellar (18) was oon followed by thoe of F Murtaza (23) and M Vinter (1) as the score slipped to 45/3. The Cavs recovered though a fourth wicket partnership of 24 but two quick wickets, those of P Kannan (4) and K Chowdhury (16) meant the Cavaliers were 69/5 in the 20th over. D Smith and I Ikram then combined to add 50 runs together before Ikram (28) was caught, but a further 30 runs were then added for the seventh wicket before Smith (36) was the next man out, the score on 149/7 after 33 overs. N Hussain and S Riaz managed to add a further 30 runs in 6 overs to get the Cavaliers up to 179, but the wicket of Riaz (4) brought N Davidson to the crease, and he and Hussain got the cavaliers up to their final total of 222/8 after 45 overs, with Hussain (51*) bringing up his fifty while Davidson was unbeaten on 19*.
The Cavaliers opened with N Davidson and JJ Elliston, with Davidson claiming two wickets in his opening spell of 7-1-22-2. The introduction of N Hussain then saw wickets reguslarly fall at his end while S Riaz (7-2-21-0) bowled a wicketless spell at the other end before being replaced with the returning Elliston (8-1-31-1) who claimed a wicket in his first over back in the attack. With N Hussain (15-4-35-5) claiming a 5-fer in his final over, he and Elliston were replaced by D Smith and K Chowdhury (2-0-15-0), with Smith (2.2-1-3-2) claiming the final two wickets as the Cavaliers bowled Sudbury out for 140 in 41.2 overs to win by 82 runs.
