The Saturday XI travelled to Copford, winning the toss and electing to bowl first.
The opening bowlers, N Davidson (5-1-18-0) and S Riaz, kept things tight as Copford reached 29/0 in the first 9 overs. D Dellar then turned to his spinners, but the Copford opening pair added 82 together before U Ghani (15-1-72-2) made two breakthroughs; the second one making the score 107/2. A third wicket partnership of 43 then saw Copford reach 150/2, but N Hussain (15-2-46-3) took three quick wickets (including two from the last two balls of his spell) as Copford slipped to 153/5. The last 7 overs then saw Copford add 60 runs off the bowling of the returning Riaz (7-0-26-0) and V Gedi (3-0-28-0) as they reached 214/5 from their 45 overs.
The Cavaliers reply started with an opening partnership of 51 between D Dellar and E Parry before Parry was bowled for 15. With F Murtaza (2) out soon afterwards, Dellar and P Kannan saw the Cavs up to 94/2, with Dellar (45) the next man out. With R Rasheed (4) out soon afterwards, the Cavaliers were 99/4. A fourth wicket partnership of 31 between Kannan and K Chowdhury got the Cavs up to 130/4, but a collapse saw Kannan (20), V Gedi (1) and N Hussain (0) all out as the score slipped to 131/7. The chances of a Cavaliers win looked slim, but Chowdhury and N Davidson added 53 runs for the eighth wicket to give the team a chance of victory before Chowdhury (47) was bowled with the score on 184. Despite the best efforts of Davidson (27*), the wickets of U Ghani (0) and S Riaz (0) meant the Cavaliers were 199 all out from 45 overs, losing by 15 runs.
