Season Ends in Defeat
Having lost the toss, the Cavs were asked to field first. Opening bowlers R Rasheed (9-2-33-0) and N Davidson bowled well, but without much luck - Davidson taking a caught and bowled chance as Kelvedon reached 90/1 off of 19.3 overs. With catches being dropped, inside edges just missing the stumps, and the ball just beating the bat repeatedly, it was left to J Samwell (5-0-27-1) to claim the second wicket via a stumping by D Young. More missed chances came off the bowling of T Mayhew (8-0-53-0) and D Smith, but the captain bowled a fine spell to end with figures of 9-0-31-4 while the returning N Davidson (9-0-50-3) claimed two late wickets - One of which was an excellent one-handed catch by M Vinter, who bravely continued to field despite a suspected broken thumb on his left hand. A good bowling performance from the Cavaliers saw Kelvedon end their 40 overs on 198/8, though the score could've been much lower if chances were taken.
The Cavaliers reply saw 28 runs added in the first 7 overs before D Young (8) was the first dismissed batsman. A second wicket partnership of 36 between R Akhlaq and D Smith continued the good work of the batsmen before Akhlaq was dismissed for 33 (his highest Cavs score). Poised at the promising position of 81/2 at drinks (20 overs), a familiar collapse saw Smith (29), T Hijazi (0), M Nadeem (5) and M Vinter (4) all out as the score slumped to 87/6 after 25.3 overs. From 98/6, two more quick wickets saw the Cavs slip to 99/8 as R Rasheed (10) and N Davidson (1) both departed. A ninth wicket partnership of 17 between H Tuckwell and J Samwell saw the Cavs pick up a batting point, with Samwell (9) unfurling a couple of great shots in his innings. An unbeaten tenth wicket partnership of 29* between Tuckwell (6* from 48 balls) and T Mayhew (4* from 27 balls) meant the Cavaliers ended on 145/9 after 40 overs, losing by 53 runs.

Cavs Fall Short at Bergholt
The Sunday XI travelled to West Bergholt today.
Having lost the toss, the Cavs fielded first, with N Davidson two early breakthroughs (both caught by N Hussain) while J Walton (4-0-23-0) and M Nadeem (4-0-27-0) bowled at the other end. The combination of N Hussain (9-1-31-2) and R Rasheed (8-1-23-2) then accounted for the rest of the Bergholt top order, including the wicket of M Rogers for 73. With T Mayhew (2-0-12-1) and C Finch (2-0-21-0) proving expensive, D Smith (2-0-3-0) turned to himself to close out the innings from one end while the returning Davidson claimed three wickets in his second spell, claiming his 5-fer off the last ball of the innings, on his way to figures of 9-1-45-5 as Bergholt were all out for 191 in their 40 overs.
The Cavaliers reply saw early wickets fall, with R Akhlaq (7), D Smith (3) and M Vinter (14) all out as the score slipped to 26/3. A fourth wicket partnership of 23 between J Walton (8) and M Nadeem (14) helped the Cavs recover, but both batsmen were out in close succession. N Hussain and D Young then got the score up to 72/5, but Young (6) and Hussain (15) continued the trend of batsmen falling in groups as the score reached 74/7. The Cavaliers went on to only add a further 44 runs, with R Rasheed combining with N Davidson (3) and C Finch - Rasheed was eventually stumped after scoring a fine 40 (including three sixes!). With Finch (0) bowled soon after (with T Mayhew on 0*), the Cavs were all out for 118 in 32.1 overs, losing by 73 runs.
