The Saturday XI played Eight Ash Green at Mill Road yesterday.
The Cavaliers won the toss and elected to field first on a green tinged wicket, with JJ Elliston (6-1-36-1) claiming an early wicket while K Hemstedt (6-1-28-0) toiled at the other end. With the Green's second wicket partnership adding 62 runs while riding their luck, skipper D Dellar turned to his spinners, with N Hussain breaking the partnership to leave EAG 73/2. With Hussain and T Hijazi (6-2-12-0) keeping the run rate down, a run out by Hussain/D Young accounted for the next wicket. With Hussain continuing to take wickets, J Samwell (3-0-18-0) replaced Hijazi at the other end, but the 10-man Eight Ash Green team had no answer to a rampant Hussain, who finished with excellent figures of 9-2-32-7 as they were dismissed for 118 in 30 overs.
The Cavaliers, chasing 119 in 60 overs, got off to a solid start in their run chase reaching 47 before D Dellar (19) was trapped LBW. With M Vinter (35*) going well at the other end, Cavs #3 N Jalib unfurled his range of scoring shots in an unbeaten stand of 73 for the second wicket, with Jalib (50*) hitting a four to win the match and bring up his fifty (from just 27 balls) as the Cavs scored 120/1 in 21.5 overs in a comprehensive 9 wicket victory.
