The Saturday XI travelled to Maldon's Promenade Park today.
Having lost the toss, Maldon opted to bat. They started well, passing 50 for the loss of just one wicket - R Rasheed (6-0-35-1) claiming his second wicket for the Cavaliers while N Davidson (5-1-21-0) toiled at the other end. The introduction of spinners then pegged Maldon back as N Hussain dismissed Maldon opener S Reeve for 41, followed by three quick wickets (one via a sharp one-handed catch by D Dellar at slip). At the other end, U Ghani bowled economically while picking up wickets on his way to figures of 10-5-15-2 before being replaced by JJ Elliston (3-1-7-2), who immediately found a good line and length while swinging the ball in sharply. With Hussain (12.1-4-13-5) having the Maldon #11 stumped by D Young, the Cavs had bowled their opponents out for 91 in 36.1 overs.
After tea the Cavs openers started solidly, putting away the bad balls without offering a chance. With 5 overs gone F Murtaza hit the accelerator, with Maldon bowler C Dack (5-0-53-0) taking the most punishment as Murtaza reached his fifty in just 32 balls! While Dellar (22* from 30 balls) provided support, Murtaza raced to 72* from just 40 balls (6x4, 7x6), winning the match with a six (parried and caught... Over the boundary) - The Cavs ending on 95/0 in just 11.4 overs to seal back-to-back 10 wicket victories.
