The Cavaliers travelled to Purleigh today with 10 men (with Amir dropping out this morning).
Having lost the toss the Cavaliers were put in to bat, with E Parry and S Pillalamarri adding 69 for the first wicket (the highest opening stand on a Sunday in 2015) before Parry (29) was dismissed. A second wicket partnership of 44 between Pillalamarri and D Smith (24) saw the Cavs pass 100 before A Corcos (8) and N Hussain (1) were dismissed in quick succession to leave the Cavs 130/4. With the Cavaliers pushing for quick runs, Pillalamarri was eventually out for 68 as a customary Cavs collapse saw the score go from 144/4 to 149/7, with J Bardell (run out without facing) and N Davidson (5) following Pillalamarri back to the pavilion. Some aggressive batting from J Corcos (14) saw the Cavs up to 167, with T Mayhew (1*) and D Young (1*) getting the Cavaliers up to their final total of 169/8 from their 40 overs.
The Cavaliers opened the bowling with spinner N Hussain (6-3-10-1) in the second innings, and the ploy paid off as Purleigh's star batsman, C Freegard (20) was caught off a top edge by J Corcos. Fellow opening bowler Bardell (9-1-35-1) also bowled well, having the #3 caught behind (and unlucky to see an edge fly through the vacant slip position, due to the lack of an 11th player) before Purleigh built a decent third wicket partnership. The introduction of N Davidson (9-1-28-3) proved fruitful as he bowled an economical spell, including two wickets in two balls and the wickets of both well-set batsmen - like Bardell, he also unlucky to have an edge go through the vacant slip position. A comical run out saw Purleigh lose another wicket, with a well-directed throw from A Corcos deflecting off the stomach of Young onto the stumps, before the spin pairing of T Mayhew (5-1-7-2) and D Smith (7-2-18-2) mopped up the tail, with skipper Parry claiming the winning catch as Purleigh were all out for 102, giving the Sunday team a 67-run victory.
