Jon-Boy Puts Kelvedon to Bed

The Cavaliers Saturday XI played Kelvedon & Feering's 3rd XI today at Mill Road.

Upon winning the toss, the Cavaliers elected to field first. The Cavs opening bowlers immediately found assistance from the pitch, with N Davidson having one opener caught behind, and J Walton getting two quick wickets shortly afterwards (one caught at mid-off by Murtaza, the other caught behind) to leave Kelvedon on 8/3. With Davidson swinging the ball with ease and Walton utilising seam movement and bounce, the Kelvedon wickets kept falling. Davidson claimed two more wickets, clean bowling one batsman, with P Kalra claiming a catch at point to give Davidson final figures of 9-2-32-3. At the other end Walton continued to impress, bowling two Kelvedon batsmen and having two more caught behind (including a one-handed diving effort) as D Young claimed four catches - In fact, Walton was unlucky to not have another wicket as Young lost a catching opportunity in the sun. That being said, Walton went on to claim his best figures for the club, finishing with 9-0-19-6 before first-change bowler P Kalra (0.3-0-1-1) took the final wicket of the innings thanks to a catch by K Hemstedt at square leg. Kelvedon's innings finished after just 18.3 overs on 52 all out.

The Cavs reply went to plan as S Pillalamarri (26* from 31 balls) and F Murtaza (18* from 17 balls) didn't give Kelevdon any chances on their way to 53/0 from 7.5 overs to give the Cavaliers a 10 wicket win before the tea had even arrived!

PS. Jon has since asked that it be pointed out that he now has now earn caps every way possible (50 with the bat, 5 dismissals, 5-fer & a hat-trick)
