DNA Edge a Close One

The Property Book Cavaliers played DNA Networks at Mill Road.

Having won the toss, captain D Dellar elected to bat first. With the DNA opening bowlers performing well the Cavs were reduced to 28/4, with J Walton (0), G Moncrieff (0), M Rackowe (2) and J Corcos (3) all dismissed cheaply. A change in bowling didn't provide the Cavaliers with the respite they needed though, with D Dellar (16) run out and J Rawlings (0) departing three balls later. The Cavs were in trouble at 36/6, but an excellent seventh wicket partnership of 55 between N Hussain and N Davidson (29) saw the Cavs up to 91, with Hussain (29), E Goodall (4) and T Goodall (0*) seeing the Cavs up to their final total of 103/9 after Davidson was dismissed.

The Cavaliers were then unlucky to not take wickets early on, with J Rawlings and N Davidson (2-0-13-0) bowling well. With first-change bowler E Goodall (3-0-22-0) also unable to make the breakthrough, the Cavaliers turned to in form N Hussain to get them the wickets required. He delivered a spell of 4-0-21-4 to help the Cavaliers get back into the game, with J Walton (2-0-18-2) also chipping in with two late wickets - including an incredible one-handed diving catch from J Corcos at backward point. With a run-out from T Goodall/D Young also coming in Walton's last over the Cavs had reduced DNA Networks to 97/7, but some scrambled runs in the final over off the bowling of the returning Rawlings (3.5-0-29-0) saw DNA reach their target of 104 in 14.5 overs, winning by 3 wickets with just 3 balls of the match remaining.
