Fine Performance By PBUK Cavs

The Property Book Cavaliers faced Ardleigh in the evening league at Mill Road tonight.

Fielding first, the Cavs took early wickets as N Davidson (4-0-19-3) dismissed the top three in Ardleigh's batting line up while K Jayasinghe (2-0-13-0) kept things tight at the other end. The introduction of N Hussain then helped the Cavaliers build pressure as he bowled an amazing spell of 4-1-4-0 to T Harvey and K Lamont, with only three scoring shots against him. The pressure built by Hussain allowed J Lawson (2-0-11-1) and C Haines (2-0-17-1) to take wickets at the other end before a good 'death' over by debutant E Goodall (1-0-3-0) maintained the pressure, forcing Ardleigh to take risky runs which led to two run outs - One by D Young, and the other by Goodall/Haines as Ardleigh finished their 15 overs on 75/7, with Harvey (26) the only batsman to reach double figures.

The PBUK reply started well, with D Dellar and A Corcos adding 21 for the first wicket in just 2.4 overs before Dellar (12 from 15 balls) was dismissed. It was then left to A Corcos (37* from 29 balls) and J Walton (20* from 27 balls) to combine in an unbeaten second wicket partnership of 55 to see the Cavaliers reach their target of 76 for the loss of just one wicket after 8.6 overs.
