Friendly Start to Tour

The Cavaliers began their 2015 tour at Chatsworth House in Derbyshire. Chatsworth bowled 20 overs of 6 balls, and Cavs 15 overs of 8 balls, with batsmen retiring upon 25 (to return if enough wickets fell).

Having lost the toss, the Cavs batted first on the picturesque ground, with S Gilhooly (18 from 15 balls) getting the team off to a good start. With N Jalib (26* from 20) and J Rawlings (26* from 18) both retiring not out, it was left to N Davidson (17 from 15) and P Johnson (16 from 24) to continue the good work. Johnson and D Young (6 from 12) then saw the Cavaliers past 100, before T Mayhew (6 from 6) and E Parry (6 from 8) helped the Cavaliers up to their final total of 127/4 from their 20 overs.

The Chatsworth reply got off to a good start as three of their top four retired not out, as the Cavaliers managed to keep things tight without taking wickets. The Cavs opened the bowling with P Everitt (2-0-8-0) and E Parry, with N Davidson (2-0-13-0) and T Mayhew (2-0-11-0) maintaining the pressure. Some of the pressure was eased as Chatsworth attacked the bowling of S Gilhooly (2-0-26-0), but a wicket then appeared from an unlikely source, as P Johnson found some turn on his way to figures of 2-0-14-2! J Rawlings (1-0-6-0) then put the pressure back on the Chatsworth batsmen before N Jalib (2-0-25-1) and the returning E Parry (2-0-16-1) took late wickets. A run-out (by Davidson/Jalib) off the penultimate ball, followed by a wide, left Chatsworth needing four to win... A scrambled three was all they could manage as they tied the game, finishing on 127/5.
