Collapse Costs the Cavs

The Property Book Cavaliers played reigning CECL Champions, The Real Oddies tonight at Mill Road.

Having lost the toss, PBUK Cavs were asked to field first and got off to a great start as J Rawlings (2-0-24-1) claimed an early wicket. The Oddies fought back through a 49-run partnership for the second wicket before A Baig (3-1-16-3) claimed two wickets in two balls. From that point wickets fell regularly, with J Walton (2-0-17-1) striking in the next over, and Baig claiming his third wicket through a sharp catch at slip by D Dellar. With K Jayasinghe (2-0-11-0) and JJ Elliston (2-0-16-0) bowling well without reward, it was another great spell from N Hussain which provided the wickets, as he finished with figures of 3.6-0-18-4 to help the Cavs bowl the Oddies out for 105 (the other wicket in the innings was through a run out by N Davidson and D Young).

The Cavaliers reply got off to the worst possible start as D Dellar (0) was caught behind off the first ball of the innings. With M Rackowe (1) and G Moncrieff (0) following soon afterwards, the Cavs were struggling on 2/3. A partnership of 17 between N Davidson (11) and N Hussain (6), followed by partnerships between J Walton (10), JJ Elliston (12) and K Jayasinghe helped the Cavaliers pass 50, but regular wickets kept pegging the Cavs back. With two run outs accounting for J Rawlings (0) and A Baig (0), it was soon all over as Jayasinghe was stumped for 12, leaving D Young on 0* without facing. PBUK Cavaliers finished all out for just 62, losing by 43 runs.
