Property Book off to a Flyer

The Property Book Cavaliers began their midweek campaign against IAA tonight at the Mile End recreation ground.

Having won the toss, skipper D Dellar elected to bat first in a game reduced to 10 overs a side, due to a delayed start & an 8pm sunset. The Property Book Cavs got off to a flyer, with 22 coming off the first 2 overs, as E Parry scored at a rate of a run a ball!! Following a tight third over, the pressure told with Parry (8 from 16 balls) bowled by a good delivery by Clarke (1-28). This brought the captain to the crease, and he joined opener G Moncrieff in a second wicket partnership of 34 before Moncrieff (30 from 25 balls) was bowled. Thanks to some good running & some powerful hitting, Dellar (43 from 26 balls) and N Jalib (18 from 12) got the Property Book Cavaliers up to 109/2 from their 10 overs.

The IAA reply got off to a poor start, with a farcical run out in the first over of the chase followed by a wicket for J Rawlings (caught by the returning J Walton) in the second over of the innings to leave IAA struggling at 5/2. A solid third wicket partnership got IAA into a good position, but the golden arm of T Crayston (1-9) created an opening. Another run out (thanks to good communication between Jalib, Young & Dellar) removed the other set batsman to leave Rawlings (2-17) the job of closing out the innings as the PBUK Cavaliers won by 14 runs, with IAA finishing their 10 overs on 95/5.
