PBUK Cavs Fall Short Again

The Property Book Cavaliers returned to CECL action tonight, playing Ardleigh away.

The Cavs fielded first on an extremely green wicket, and soon had Ardleigh at 21/2, with captain D Dellar (4-0-16-2) claiming a couple of cheap wickets. A good third wicket partnership of 53 got the opposition up to 74 before T Craiston (2-0-29-2) removed the dangerous pair of J Lyndon (48) and K Lamont. Regular wickets then fell, with J Rawlings (2-0-11-1) bowling well with Dellar at the close. There were also two runs outs as G Moncrieff and D Young combined to dismiss Hobbs, and N Hussain threw into Dellar to run out McKechnie. Ardleigh ended their 15 8-ball overs on126/7. The first innings also saw J Walton return to bowling, returning very respectable figures of 2-0-12-0 (with a six being hit off his last ball).

The Cavs reply got off to a bad start as S Gilhooly (4) was out early. With regular wickets falling, the Cavs struggled to get any decent partnerships going, with S Masood (19) and S Craiston (13) being the only batsmen to make doubles figures in the top order. With the required run rate increasing, G Moncrieff came to the crease with the Cavs struggling at 56/7... He then blasted three sixes on his way to a 13-ball 20, but it was not enough to stop prevent the PBUK Cavs losing by 38 runs. The Cavs ended up being all out for 88 after 14.6 overs.
