Missed Chances

The first XI were left to rue missed chances today against Springfield - A lack of runs, dropped catches and a missed stumping
Having won the toss, the first XI elected to bat. The openers, R Anandraj (20) & M Vinter (4) added 28 for the first wicket, but good partnerships were hard to come by as wickets regularly fell. By the end of the 28th over, the Cavaliers were 81/8 and struggling. N Hussain (30) & D Young (12*) then added 45 for the ninth wicket, to get the Cavaliers up to a competitive score. The innings ended with the Cavs scoring 128 all out after 43.1 overs.
The Springfield reply got off to a lucky start as dropped catches allowed them to add 46 for the first wicket - S Johnson (6-3-11-0) being particularly unfortunate, while J Rawlings (6-1-28-0) also bowled well. The introduction of N Hussain (10-3-19-2) and H Kumar (6.2-0-32-3) then helped the Cavaliers get back into the game as Springfield struggled to build partnerships. D Smith (6-2-22-2) continued to keep the pressure on the Springfield batsmen, but an unbeaten eighth wicket partnership of 47 saw Springfield win by 3 wickets
